Gwennap Parish Council is urging Cornwall Council to ensure that the latest application for a new scrap yard in the area is determined by the strategic planning committee rather than by planning officers under delegated powers.
European Metal Recycling Ltd wants to build a scrap metal storage and processing facility at United Downs Industrial Park.
Carharrack and St Day parish councils have already lodged their opposition with Cornwall Council, and now Gwennap Parish Council has added its objections.
In its submission to the planning authority, Gwennap wrote: "Our electorate is incensed that after putting up with the landfill site for so long, we are now also expected to allow a monstrosity such as this scrap yard to be built in our parish."
It lists among its many objections an increase in heavy traffic, adverse effect on existing businesses, impact on a World Heritage Site, extra noise and disturbance, road safety issues and impact on tourism.
The submission concluded: "We do not support this application and will oppose it by any means possible.
"We insist that this application be referred to the strategic planning committee to enable the wider view to be taken."
Cornwall councillor Mark Kaczmarek, who represents Lanner and St Day, is also opposed to the new scrap yard.
He said: "I fully support the objections raised to this application by St Day, Carharrack and Gwennap parish councils.
"The area for many years has been blighted by dirty industry and following the closure of the United Mines Landfill Site two years ago, the residents of the Mining Villages have seen a marked improvement in their quality of life.
"The three existing scrap yards at United Road are no where near working to capacity and it is not that long ago that Triplets, which was the fourth scrap yard operating less than half a mile away, closed.
