Truro City 2 Tonbridge Angels 0
City gave their hopes of avoiding relegation from Blue Square Bet South a much needed boost with a well deserved victory over the Kent visitors.
A Marcus Martin penalty at the start of the second half and a late second from Kieffer Moore clinched a vital three points for the home side at the start of  what is crucial month in their survival battle.
It was one of City's most impressive performances for some time  and came against a Tonbridge side unbeaten in their last six league and cup games.
City though began the match slowly  and had to thank Ben Williams for a great clearance off the line to deny Ross Treleaven.
But the home side then took control with Moore, Cody Cooke and Andy Watkins  all missing presentable chances.
However, they did not have to  wait long after the restart to take the lead when Watkins was needlessly brought down by Ollie Schulz as he cut in from the bye-line after just 50 seconds of the second period.
Marcus Martin  made no mistake from the spot, sending Lee Worgan in the visitors' goal the wrong way.
Truro continued to press, with Joe Broad forcing a good save out of Worgan, while Moore was just wide after an incisive pass by Broad.
City looked very  solid at the back, although they did have a let off when Schulz blasted over with only Luke McCormick to beat.
Les Afful then hit the bar after a fine City counter-attack, but it was not until two minutes from time that they made  the game safe
Afful's clever ball found Moore on the left and he jinked inside and out before finishing with aplomb.
City will now look to make it three home wins in a row when they entertain high-flying Dover Athletic on Tuesday evening (7pm).
