Coastguards and ambulance crews rescued a 12-year-old girl yesterday who was injured sandboarding down dunes at Holywell Bay.
Falmouth Coastguard received a call from ambulance control at around 5.20pm on Saturday asking for assistance getting the child over the difficult terrain.
A spokesman said: "Newquay Coastguard went to the scene and helped to carry the girl on a stretcher across the sand dunes to a waiting ambulance. She was taken to Treliske Hospital.
"She is understood to have been sandboarding when she was injured."
The high speed extreme sport - like snowboarding on sand dunes - is said to be growing in popularity because it is available year round.
