A confidential final audit investigation report relating to the suspension of a headteacher on the Isles of Scilly earlier this year will not be made public.
The document concerns Bryce Wilby, former headteacher of the Five Islands School on St Mary's. He was suspended in May this year over financial irregularity allegations.
Executive officers of the Council of the Isles of Scilly last night said they had received the final report. It will also go in front of the Five Islands School governing body.
A statement released yesterday read: "The council has taken legal advice in relation to the possible disclosure of all or part of the document, and has been advised that, for legal reasons, it is currently not possible for this to be disclosed. For these reasons, it is not possible to make any further comment at this time."
Following Mr Wilby's suspension an interim audit report alleged "inappropriate" material had been found on a computer. Mr Wilby has always maintained his innocence throughout a protracted audit procedure.
The original audit was completed without Mr Wilby being interviewed, which the council later admitted was an error. The investigation was subsequently reopened.
Mr Wilby resigned from his position soon after he was suspended and left the islands with his family.
