The B3253 in Looe has been reopened following disruption caused by recent landslips, Cornwall Council has confirmed.

The Council has assured local residents that St Martin's Hill road will remain open, with the use of traffic lights, as stabilising works begin.

However, a section of the A387 at Sandplace Road, which has also been affected by landslips, will remain closed to vehicles for the foreseeable future but it is now open to pedestrians.

Rob Andrew, from Cornwall Council, said: "We recognise that the closure of both roads in and out of Looe would have a serious impact on the lives of local people and so have devised a scheme which will enable St Martin's Hill to remain open under traffic light control during these works."

"We anticipate that the works will be carried out within the next four weeks and will be working with our partners to ensure that the scheme is completed as quickly as possible," he added.

A public meeting to provide local residents with detailed information about the highways works and the arrangements which are being made for access is being held at the Guildhall at 6.30 pm on Thursday (December 6).
