After six years of combining fine dining with training for would-be chefs, an iconic Cornish venue is set for a makeover.
Fifteen Cornwall has revealed big plans to transform its dining and training experience with work commencing early next month.
In a project partly funded by the Cornwall Development Company and the county's Regional Growth Fund, the restaurant will reveal its new offering when doors open again in early February.
The transformation will include a sophisticated new interior featuring an antipasti bar – a space where customers can enjoy simple, authentic Italian snacks washed down with a glass of wine, a cocktail or a beer. A cutting edge kitchen will deliver a new menu concept developed by head chef Andy Appleton and further enhance the training experience for the restaurant's successful apprentice programme.
Matthew Thomson, chief executive of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall and its charity, the Cornwall Foundation of Promise, said it had been a great six years and the new restaurant would be even better.
"The restaurant has served breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week every week for six years – more than 400,000 meals," he said.
"So it's an absolutely massive step for us to close for three weeks, but we know we'll be opening in February with a stunning new interior and a mouth-watering kitchen that will make the most of our beautiful location and offer new and amazing dining experiences."
In the coming weeks and daily from January 14, Fifteen Cornwall will be updating a special Big Reveal Blog with progress reports.
