A YOUNG Falmouth film-maker has won support for his project showcasing local skateboarders.

Fred Baylis, 15, has produced a short film shot in the surrounding area, including Falmouth and Truro, of young skateboarding talent.

He said: "The idea was to give people a chance to be in a skating film who don't usually get the opportunity to be."

Simon Van-Evelingen, from Sessions Surf Shop in Falmouth, supported the project and is showing the film in his shop.

Last year Fred travelled the UK with The vProject film crew to direct a film titled Face Britain, in aid of The Prince's Foundation for Children and The Arts Face Britain Campaign.

The film was shown on the BBC's big screens across the UK for the Queen's jubilee and the Olympics as well as being covered by BBC's Blue Peter.

Its success inspired him to film young skateboarders who he met at the Mount Hawke skatepark.

Fred added: "I am storyboarding my next film with my mate Ben Hatcliffe, who helped with some of the filming in the sessions film.

"The next film will be of a road trip to London filming at skateparks from Mount Hawke to the South Bank."

Anybody interested in supporting the next project can get in touch with Simon at Sessions on 01326 211159.
