Fire crews tackled a blaze on a fishing boat in Newlyn harbour last night after its engine room caught fire.
Two appliances from Penzance Fire Station attended the incident just after 10pm, successfully tackling the blaze to limit damage to the 17metre vessel.
Crew manager Ian Neal said combating the fire proved a logistical challenge for his team.
He said: "It was very difficult for the crews going in to the ship's hold because it was retaining its heat and smoke, it was quite a difficult one."
The fire was put out just after midnight.
