Bodmin go back to top after 11-goal mauling of Penzance

Bodmin Town moved back to the top of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League with an 11-0 hammering of bottom placed Penzance at Priory Park on Saturday afternoon.
Amazingly it was the third 11-0 result in the premier division this season, with St Blazey beating Penzance and Newquay crushing Cullompton by the same margin earlier in the season.
Adam Carter helped himself to four goals, with a hat-trick in the opening 16 minutes, while there were two goals apiece for Olly Brokenshire, Glynn Hobbs and Neil Slateford. Sam Matthews added the other.
This was Penzance's 20th defeat in 22 league games and they have now conceded 107 goals.
Any hopes they had of keeping things tight in the early stages disappeared inside the first minute when Carter finished off after a Matthews cross from the right was only half cleared.
Bodmin strung together a dozen passes on the way to their second goal in the 11th minute with midfield men Brokenshire and Steve Colwell combining to put Carter through for a sweet finish.
Carter completed his treble five minutes later after Hobbs and Luke Rundle had combined down the left flank to create the opening for the big striker.
Before Penzance had time to recover it was 4-0 when Brokenshire produced one of his customary lobbed shots, which went in off the underside of the bar, and it was Brokenshire's corner in the 26th minute which provided Carter with his fourth and Bodmin's fifth goal.
Bodmin then scored three times in four minutes as Hobbs (30), Slateford (33) and Matthews (34) took advantage of almost non-existent defending from the visitors.
Wiith an eight-goal lead Bodmin could have been excused for easing off in the second half but Brokenshire made it 9-0 seven minutes after the break, Hobbs added number ten in the 63rd minute and Slateford crashed in the 11th with 25 minutes still remaining.
Elsewhere in the premier division on Saturday, St Blazey held morning leaders Plymouth Parkway 0-0 at Bolitho Park while St Austell were 4-2 winners at Liverton.
The other five scheduled games were postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
In division one west, second placed Helston beat Vospers Oak Villa 10-0 with hat-tricks from Mark Goldworthy and Liam Eddy, taking advantage of no games for their title rivals Godolphin and Wadebridge.
