Homes evacuated and transport chaos after another night of rain and floods for Cornwall

Homes have been evacuated and roads have been closed following heavy rains and flooding in Cornwall overnight. Up to 40mm of rain fell across the Duchy overnight causing rivers to burst their banks, landslips, fallen trees and flooding to properties and transport routes.Send us your pictures of the flooding to jo.wood@northcliffemedia.co.uk An amber weather warning remains in place for Cornwall until 6 am on Sunday morning. There are severe flood warnings, meaning possible risk to life, on the River Fowey from Trekeivesteps to Lostwithiel and the River Cober at Helston which has burst its banks. There are flood warnings, meaning flooding is imminent, on the River Camel from Camelford to Polbrock, River Hayle from Relubbus to St Erth and River Tresillian at Ladock. The A39 at Bude is closed in both directions because of flooding. The A390 in Lostwithiel is closed in both directions between the Sandylake Lane junction and the B3269 junction. The A389 in Washaway is also closed in both directions. The A39 at Perranarworthal is flooded at the Greenbank Road junction. The A3075 at Trevemper in Newquay was impassable this morning because of flooding, as was the A390 at St Blazey. There are also issues with the A38 in Trerulefoot, A388 Dutson Road in Launceston. The A30 was closed in both directions until just after 9am, but has now reopened, as has A388 in Launceston which was closed until about 10am because of a fallen tree. Hannafore Road in Looe has been blocked by two fallen trees and a landslip affecting access to around 200 properties and emergency services are currently dealing with an incident at Tresarrett Bridge, near Bodmin, trying to reach people trapped in a car which is stuck in flood water. There are no trains operating between Plymouth and Taunton, affecting all services from Penzance to London. Services between Par and Newquay are also suspended in both directions with no replacement road transport available. A rest centre has been set up in Helston to enable evacuation of threatened properties for the St Johns area of Helston. Around 190 people were evacuated by Police. The levels of the River Hayle in St Erth are still rising and the level of the River Fowey in Lostwithiel is still 'causing concern'. Evacuation of up to 195 Lostwithiel residents from homes at risk of flooding began this morning. A rest centre has been set up in the Community Centre. Two swift water rescue specialist appliances are helping with the town's evacuation. 117 properties have been affected by flooding in Cornwall since last night including 10 properties in Mevagissey, with around 40 affected in Millbrook, 5 in Helston, 15 in Ladock, 7 in Rellubbus and 4 in Newquay. Agencies are asking people to not attempt driving through floodwater and to stay away from cliff edges. The Amber weather warning is in place until 6am on Sunday, when rain will reduce for a short period, with further heavy rain then affecting Cornwall on Sunday evening, with more rain then forecast until 6pm on Monday evening. There is also an amber flood guidance in place for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
