A section of the A30 is currently closed in Cornwall after a tanker overturned spilling slurry all over the road. The eastbound carriageway of the A30 is closed between Scorrier and Chiverton Cross after the tanker overturned onto its side on the on-slip road at around 10.20am. The tanker, which was carrying approximately 3,000 gallons of slurry, has spilt some of its load onto the road. Police said they had received initial reports of "slurry running down the road". Officers at the scene confirmed the driver had managed to free himself from the cab but at this stage there are no reports of injuries. The road will remain closed until at least lunchtime to enable the slurry to be cleared from the road. Police said another tanker was currently on its way to the scene which would enable the slurry which hadn't spilt to be transferred to the replacement tanker. Once the overturned tanker is empty of slurry and lighter, crews will attempt to right it on its wheels and remove it from the road. Crews are also working at the scene to pump the spilt slurry off of the carriageway. There is currently no access to the A30 at the Scorrier junction and traffic is being diverted off the A30 at the previous junction. Motorists are advised to approach the area with care and seek an alternative route where possible.
