AN 84-year-old man has been killed in a fatal road collision on the A30 near Penzance.
Police and ambulance were called to a single-vehicle collision at Newtown roundabout, Long Rock at 6.10pm on December 28. The silver Mazda 323 had been travelling from the roundabout towards St Erth when it left the road and went into a hedge.
The driver, an 84-year-old man from Marazion, was found unconscious and was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed.
The road was closed for two-and-a-half hours while police examined the scene.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision. They would particularly like to speak to a cyclist who stopped at the scene but left before police arrived.
