MEMBERS of Tintagel Surf Life Saving Club have been given essential equipment consisting of three new Nipper boards and a surf rescue board, donated by Western Power Distribution (WPD).
The boards were handed over by Jonathan Bosley, representing WPD, to members of the club who enjoyed using them straightaway on a glorious summer evening at Trebarwith Strand.
Club chairman Les Freke said that with a growing membership – now at 84 – the new equipment would benefit all members.
The club's Nippers, aged from 8 to 13, are practising for competency awards and the surf rescue board is already being used to train the next group of lifeguards.
Seven lifeguards trained by the club are working for the RNLI at Trebarwith and Polzeath.
"I would like to thank Western Power Distribution for its generous support, enabling us to purchase such essential equipment so that we are able to continue to teach our members invaluable lifesaving skills in the ocean," said Mr Freke.
