A CHARITY box raising money in memory of a Crowlas woman who died of cervical cancer has been stolen.
The Mercedes Curnow Foundation fundraising tin was taken from Herbies fish and chip shop in Penzance on Monday evening.
Around £30 was believed to have been in the box when it was stolen from the shop counter.
"I was absolutely gutted when I realised it had gone," said Steve Herbert, who runs the business with wife Nicola.
"We knew Mercedes because she used to come in here to get chips and curry sauce."
To ward off more thefts, Mr Herbert said he would no longer keep charity boxes on the front counter. Anyone with information should phone 101 quoting crime log AP/13/65.
