St Joseph's School has been named the top school in Cornwall for GCSE results the Department of Education announced yesterday. The school has come top of the league table ahead of all other Cornish Independent and State Schools.
The pupils gained 96% A*-C grades including Maths and English with 53% of the results being awarded as A* & A grades; an outstanding achievement as the national average for 2012 is 29.7%
This result is even more pleasing as St Joseph's is non-selective.
This latest accolade follows on from being rated the third highest non-selective independent school in England.
Head teacher Mrs Sue Rowe said,
"We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who not only perform very well academically but also in the broader aspects of school life including sport and music. In addition, St Joseph's pupils contribute a great deal to the wider community. Our small class sizes, individual attention, high expectations from the teaching staff and a focus on pastoral care all contribute to a very positive and high quality learning environment."
St Joseph's continues to attract considerable interest for places as the school continues to produce such impressive results.
