Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier outfit Bodmin Town confirmed they contacted Ashington on Thursday to advise them to travel yesterday as they expect today's fourth-round FA Vase tie at Priory Park to go ahead.

It is to be hoped Bodmin's efforts and considerable expense incurred in reaching this stage of the competition will be rewarded with a large crowd at Priory Park for the visit of the Ebac Northern League outfit.

Ashington are currently eighth in what is one of the strongest step five leagues in the country.

The division includes Whitley Bay who have won the Vase three of the past four seasons. Last year's final was contested between two Northern League sides with Dunstan beating West Auckland 2-0 at Wembley.

Bodmin are aware they are capable of pulling off a notable victory which would then give them another home draw in the last 16 when either Gornal Athletic or Wisbech Town, who meet in their fourth round tie on Saturday, February 2, will provide the opposition.

Bodmin manager Darren Gilbert is not looking to the next round. "We will take one game at a time and not think about anything further than today's game," he said.

"We have to play to the best of our abilities and they have to have an off day and then maybe we can start planning for another home game."

The Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier Division does have eight scheduled fixtures but the weather could affect that number. With the leading pair inactive, third-placed Launceston will be looking to close the gap when they travel to Falmouth Town.

The Clarets have not been having their best spell of the season of late as Leigh Cooper's side have won just one of the four games they have play in the past two months.

Falmouth have only played three games in that time and are looking for their first victory in ten games.

Fourth-placed Tavistock have a full-strength squad available for the visit of Camelford while Elburton, in fifth, welcome back Saam Khakbazan and Lee Salmon for the trip to St Blazey.

Ivybridge have defender Miles Cheetham returning to give them a full-strength squad for their trip to Liverton.

Bottom side Penzance entertain a struggling Bovey Tracey outfit while Cullompton face a hard home game against St Austell and Witheridge will be aiming for their seventh straight victory when they host Newquay. Torpoint entertain lowly Liskeard at The Mill.
