An ex-care worker who admitted sexually abusing two women with mental disorders in Penzance has been jailed for three years.
Michael Callon, 40, from Camborne, pleaded guilty to six charges involving a 28-year-old woman who was a suicide risk suffering with depression, anxiety and a 39-year-old woman with bipolar disorder.
He was accused of taking advantage of their vulnerabilities by forming inappropriate sexual relations with them while he worked as a care assistant at the Cornwall Foundation Trust, at Bolitho House in Penzance between June 2008 and early 2011.
Sentencing, Judge David Ticehurst told Callon, of Pendarves View, Camborne, who formerly lived at St Piran's Court, Marazion, that as a care worker he should have known the victims vulnerabilities and frailties.
"You exploited those frailties for your own gratification," he said during the case at Truro Crown Court.
"The aggravating features are the serious abuse of trust, the length of time over which the offences took place an the fact there were two victims."
Judge Ticehurst said this showed the "sexually predatory" nature of Callon's actions.
Callon pleaded guilty to two of the six charges he faced only minutes before his trial was due to begin earlier this month.
He had admitted four similar charges last July.
Callon was also placed under an indefinite sexual offences prevention order and told that with good behaviour he would serve half of his sentence.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Buckley from the police public protection unit at Pool said he believed the outcome was just.
"Devon and Cornwall police is committed to protecting vulnerable people by identifying, investigating and reducing any abuse or ill treatment reported to us," he said.
"Whilst these crimes are uncommon, we are keen to encourage anyone experiencing or moreover aware of such abuse to report the facts to the police or adult social care."
