A woman was airlifted to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a truck on the A30 in Cornwall. The woman, said by police to be in her 30s, was in collision with a lorry on the westbound carriageway around midday near the bridge leading to the old Avers garage near Redruth. Police said she had suffered life-changing injuries and had not been conscious when paramedics arrived to treat her. It is believed the woman may have been a patient at Longreach House, a mental health hospital at Redruth around kilometre away.
