A Cornish charity is among the first to be awarded a yellow plaque recognising the contribution made to the organisations by people who left a gift in its wills.
The Remember A Charity yellow plaques scheme celebrates charitable projects and initiatives that have been made possible thanks to legacy donations from supporters.
It is inspired by the blue plaques awarded by English Heritage and has been set up because each year, gifts in wills bring in about £2 billion and account for 30% of the income of the UK's top ten charities.
Helston-based disaster relief charity ShelterBox will now show yellow plaques.
Rob Cope, director of Remember A Charity, the consortium of 140 charities behind the scheme, said: "Few of us currently include a charity in our will. We wanted to do something to make people pause for thought and think about including a gift to charity in their own will."
The scheme has been launched ahead of Remember A Charity Week, which runs from September 17 to 23.
