A concert in Guildford by the Port Isaac group Fisherman's Friends has been cancelled following the death of a crew member and a serious injury to another, during preparations.
Surrey Police were called to the venue, G Live, around midday on Saturday following reports of two men trapped beneath a metal door. Paramedics treated one man but he was declared dead at the scene. Another man was taken by ambulance to St George's Hospital, Tooting. He has serious head injuries.
A statement from the venue said: "Following a serious incident at G Live during the preparations for the Fishermen's Friends concert tonight we regret to inform you that the concert and Sean Walsh show tonight has been cancelled. G Live staff will be in contact with all ticket buyers again next week with further information regarding refunds."
Fisherman's Friends is a popular group of 10 shanty singers, based in Port Isaac, who perform throughout Cornwall and the rest of the UK.
