History is littered with songs written in opposition to perceived social injustices.
And now one man and his guitar from Long Rock are making a stand in opposition to the closure of a footcrossing near Penzance.
Andrew "Ollie" Oliver, who goes by the stage name Doc Mustard, has penned a song in opposition to the closure of the Mexico foot crossing in the village.
Warmly welcomed by some villagers, Keep It Open argues against the decision by Cornwall Council to enforce an emergency closure request by Network Rail in December.
The rail authority had moved to close the crossing after a coroner recommended doing so at an inquest into the death of Jeanette Nicholls, who was struck by train on it in October 2011.
Ollie said he was inspired to write the ditty after attending a site meeting at which he heard the crossing would close.
He said: "It's an absolutely vital part of the village, I would imagine that 90 per cent of the village use the crossing.
"Quite a few people have heard it and I have had nothing but positive responses.
"The title of the song is Keep It Open, I want it to be open. It's part of the village life and it's affecting trade."
An associated music video also puts forward arguments to keep the crossing open.
It has been well received by villagers, including Robert Nance from The Friends of Long Rock Mexico Crossing who said it was "very good".
