Cornwall Council's Cabinet has put off making a decision over the future of Carn Brea Leisure Centre.
The cabinet was expected to decide today whether to proceed with plans to sell the running track and car parks to a developer and reinvest the proceeds in a new track and refurbish the existing leisure centre.
But in the face of opposition from councillors across the Camborne, Pool, Illogan and Redruth area - who want a new, not a refurbished centre, and uncertainty over some of the detail of the proposed deal, the decision was made to consider it again in March..
Council leader Jim Currie said: "We have insufficient information to come to a firm conclusion.
"We are deferring the matter until next month."
