Farmers are being offered an introduction to social media which is "transforming the way the sector communicates".

Duchy College Rural Business School is hosting an evening on Tuesday, September 25, at 7pm, showing what social media means to agriculture and how farmers benefit through the websites.

The seminar, to be held at Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge, will be presented by Farmer's Weekly Community Editor and media 'guru' Tim Relf.

Head of Duchy College, Andrew Counsell said: "Social media may not be for everyone, but it certainly is having a big impact on the way we communicate.

"I would strongly encourage anyone involved in agriculture to attend whether you use social media or are just curious to find out more," said Mr Counsell.

Following Mr Relf's presentation there will be short talks from James Small, a Westcountry farmer who has already embraced social media, and Duchy College Rural Business School about how to use their online resources to find more help and support for rural businesses.

Tickets are available free to those who qualify for funding as part of the South West Skills Programme or £13.50 for those not eligible.

To check eligibility and to book a place at this event contact the Rural Business School on 0845 458 7 485 or email rbs@duchy.ac.uk.
