Adam Carter to the rescue for Bodmin at Parkway

Carlsberg South West Peninsula League leaders Bodmin Town will be pleased with the point they gained courtesy of top scorer Adam Carter's late equaliser at second-placed Plymouth Parkway.

The 1-1 draw means more to Bodmin than it does to Parkway, who remain three points adrift of Darren Gilbert's side, who also have a game in hand.

Parkway will be disappointed as they were playing against ten men. Former Parkway striker Glyn Hobbs was sent off for flattening Jamie Bass in an off-the-ball incident on 40 minutes.

An attendance of 282 gathered at Bolitho Park and looked likely to witness the rarity of a league defeat for Bodmin, who had only lost once this season, when Elburton Villa won 1-0 at Priory Park last November.

Parkway took a 72nd-minute lead when Ryan Richards slotted the ball past Kevin Miller, but three minutes from time Carter headed home at the far post to equalise.

Elburton made the most of Parkway's draw to move within four points of their cross-Plymouth rivals by coming from behind to win 3-2 at Camelford, who finished the game with nine men.

Mark Gusterson gave the Camels the lead but Elburton hit back with two goals from Ray Spear and Sam Stevens before Kevin Murt hit a late second for the home side, who had Ryan Pooley and Martin Haynes sent off.

Bovey Tracey secured their third successive league win as Hayden Roe's powerful diving header and Jason Chapman's own goal saw them win 2-0 at Falmouth Town.

St Austell wasted a 3-1 lead at Poltair Park as visitors Tavistock came back to earn a point from a 3-3 draw. Mike Body scored twice for the Lilywhites along with Lee Whetter's effort, while Tavistock replied through Sam Chitty, Lyle Johnson and John Wyatt.

St Blazey chalked up their third successive league win. Seb Broomfield's seventh-minute goal was enough to give them victory over Ivybridge Town at Blaise Park.

Torpoint Athletic bounced back from their midweek 10-0 cup mauling at Bodmin to beat Saltash United 1-0 at The Mill, with Liam Thornton scoring the only goal on 63 minutes.

Bottom club Penzance crashed 6-0 at home to Witheridge, who had Jordan Charran hitting a hat-trick alongside a brace from Steve Ebdy and Toby Nicholson's effort.

Goals from Josh Sims and Luke Weldhen saw Newquay win 2-1 at Liskeard Athletic, who replied through Alex Martin in a game that saw all the scoring in the first half at Lux Park.
