A BUILDING company has scooped four contracts worth £9 million in Camborne.
Midas Construction's largest project is a £4.6m contract for new offices and warehouse facilities for Western Power at Trevenson Road in Pool. The works are due for completion in September 2013.
The company's long association with Cornwall College also continues with the building of a new animal care centre at Rosewarne and a flexible teaching facility at the nearby Brunel Building on the college's main campus together worth £1.5m.
In addition Midas is building a new £2.6m catering and hospitality teaching facilities at the college's Carlyon Building.
Midas divisional director Mike O'Neill said: "The concentration of these significant contracts demonstrates the importance of the construction sector to local and regional economies.
"We source the materials we use locally wherever we can and we have a policy of employing local people on our projects. We anticipate that we will employ some 200 local people on these sites during the construction phase.
"Having four sites in such close proximity with our own office at Indian Queens really does make us the local contractor building for local people for the benefit of the local economy."
