The perils of a pony found stranded 70 metre down a sheer cliff face were solved in a major rescue operation which even called on the Royal Marines.
The Moorland Pony was discovered on an inaccessible ledge at Rame Head in Torpoint on Tuesday.
It remains a mystery as to how the animal came to be in the position without injuring itself.
However, yesterday (weds) it was released after specialist line rescue crews from Bodmin fire station with a support crew from Torpoint lowed RSPCSA inspectors to the animal who succeeded in coaxing it 30 metres down to the beach.
As cove had no access back to the top of the cliffs, firemen lowered a vet down to the beach who sedated the pony.
A Royal Marine landing craft was then called in from Plymouth to transport the pony and its rescuers to Cawsand.
