Police are hunting for offenders who destroyed two BMWs and attacked four other vehicles in Liskeard.
Police said last night (Sunday March 3) the offenders entered a house in Trevanion Road through the front door and stole the keys to two BMW cars.
They used the house keys to lock the front door from the outside before taking the cars that were parked outside.
The stolen silver BMW 318i was later found on fire in a field beside the A390 at Fairy Cross, Lostwithiel.
The vehicle was completely destroyed and appears to have been crashed off the road. Police believe the occupants may have been injured in the incident.
The stolen green BMW 745i was found on fire at 5.15am near to garages in Lanchard Road, Liskeard. Three men were seen removing the wheels from the car before it was destroyed.
Police are linking the burglary and car thefts to three other car break-ins in Trevanion Road on the same night.
Another garage was entered and a Honda Accord damaged. A black VW Golf and a blue Vauxhall Astra were also attacked and damaged.
Police believe the series of offences are also linked to the theft of a moped in Higher Lux Street, Liskeard, on the same night. The moped was found damaged around 800 metres away from where it was stolen.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or has information to assist the investigation to call 101, quoting crime number BD/13/347.
