Two kite surfers were forced to abandon their boards after becoming stranded on Cornwall's infamous shifting Doom Bar sands in high winds. One of the men was rescued by the inshore lifeboat from nearby Rock and the other made his way to shore without help.
Members of the public dialled 999 yesterday at around 2.45pm after they spotted the men in difficulty. A Coastguard spokesman said winds had been gusting from force five to seven with choppy seas.
