at the Recreation Ground
Redruth retained the Rodda's Milk Cup with an entertaining 43-31 win over Camborne at the Recreation Ground yesterday, when both sides rested a number of key players with a view to next weekend's important league fixtures.
Despite a strong wind at their backs, the Reds had to wait until the 19th minute for their opening unconverted try, scored by Tom Duncan.
Redruth went on to score further first-half tries through wings Tom Notman and Ben Drew, with Ashley Hosking adding both conversions.
Camborne's sole reply during the opening half was an unconverted try scored by wing Aaron Hunt as they trailed 19-5 at the break.
The Reds increased their advantage soon after half-time when man-of-the-match Notman scored his second try, followed by a trademark break from the base of the scrum by scrum-half Greg Goodfellow for try number six.
Camborne fought back and were awarded a penalty try, converted by Grant Thirlby, after a series of scrums in the clubhouse corner, followed by a try for wing Adam Notman to cut the deficit to 29-17. Ben Drew then grabbed his second try for the Reds with Hosking again adding the extras to once more stretch their advantage
Camborne, who never gave up, fought back by adding two further tries, scored by Nigel Endean and Martin Goldsworthy and both converted by Richie Kevern, while a final Redruth try was scored in between by replacement Matt Bowden, with Hosking again on target for the visitors with the extras.
