Children make their mark at Cury show

WITH more than 700 entries this year's Cury Show on Saturday was judged one of the best for some years.

Secretary since the first show in 1983, Brenda Lawrance, said she was thrilled to see so many entries and people in the hall and thanked the children of Garras and Cury Schools for their entries as well as a few from Mullion primary and comprehensive schools.

"This was encouraging as these children are our future for shows to come," she said.

Prizes were presented by Tiffany Truscott, of BBC Radio Cornwall. Loretta Ruse won most points in show and most points in handicrafts; the cup for best exhibit in show was won jointly by Clive Boulton and P Terry.

Other trophies were won by: Most points in home produce, best exhibit in preserves and in home produce - Frances Hosken. Best exhibit in flower section - Carol Sawyer, most points in flower section - Audrey Mundy, most points in photography - MIke Battersby; most points in fruit and veg - Bob Cross, best exhibit in fruit and veg - Russell Willey, best exhibit in art - Rozenwyn Lane, Cury WI member with most points, Cury resident with most points, most points in floral art, best exhibit in floral art and the Cury senior citizen with most points - Brenda Lawrance. Cury resident with most points in photography - John Hocking, toddler under 3 with most points - Katie Bosustow, 3-5 years with most points - Adah Bosustow, 6-7 years with most points, Eliza Newton-Walsh, 8-11 years with most points, Chase Bell, 12-16 years with most points Jonathan Kitto; best exhibit in model class - Chase Bell. Shields for best exhibits in all the sections: R Willey, P Terry, C Boulton, C Sawyer, F Hosken, B Lawrance, R Lane; children's classes: K Bosustow, A Bosustow, J James, G Harvey, L Williams.
