Cornwall Council has green lit plans for a solar panel farm to be built in Marazanvose, Truro.
Councillors unanimously agreed that plans for the 25 acre solar panel farm, roughly the equivalent of 10 football pitches, should be given the go ahead.
Applicants, Kronos Solar, will build the site on land next to Nanteague Farm just off from the A30.
Cornwall Council planning officers recommended the application was approved because the "positive contribution to renewable energy outweighs the negative impact to the surrounding environment".
As part of the planning conditions, no construction vehicles are allowed to enter the site directly from the A30 and will have to find alternative access.
The site will be protected by a two meter high security fence.
The solar panel farm will generate 5MW of power that will feed into an on-site Western Power substation, through an underground cable, then into the National Grid.
St Allen Parish Council objected to the site but plans were welcomed by Perranzabuloe Parish Council and near-by Kenwyn Parish Council.
No objections from local residents were filed with Cornwall Council.
