Falmouth Town 1, St Blazey 7
ST BLAZEY had little sympathy for Falmouth Town's selection problems as they eased to an emphatic victory at Bickland Park on Tuesday night.
Town were without several first-team regulars, including Ross Pope and Glen Squires, while joint manager Les Gilbert also missed the game as he was away on holiday.
With so many players unavailable for Falmouth, joint manager Robbie Stephens was forced to name first choice goalkeeper Jason Chapman as a striker.
Ethan Fearne deputised for Chapman and the youngster produced a number of good saves to prevent Town suffering an even heavier defeat.
But there was little Fearne could do about St Blazey's fourth minute opener as Town defender Steve Floyd-Norris put the ball into his own net from Luke Brown's cross.
Floyd-Norris was also at fault for St Blazey's second goal when he failed to deal with another Brown cross, leaving Seb Broomfield with the easiest of finishes from a yard out.
Brown then got his name on the scoresheet in the 35th minute, finishing off a good move, rolling the ball into the bottom corner from Broomfield's knock down.
Falmouth enjoyed their best spell of the game early in the second half, and in the 58th minute they pulled a goal back through Andy Westgarth.
But that's as good as it got for Falmouth, and they found themselves 4-1 down minutes later when Broomfield back heeled substitute Jason King's cross past Fearne.
Lewis Coombes scored St Blazey's fifth when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner in the 70th minute.
And substitute Jon Hoyles got in on the act in the 74th minute with a goal with his first touch of the ball.
George Swain, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, completed the rout in the 83rd minute.
