The Cribbar made a rare appearance off Fistral Beach, Newquay, yesterday.
Photographer Simon Piper caught these shots of an as yet unidentified surfer on the wave - that Simon described as being as big as a house.
The surfer was towed into the wave by jetski.
Simon says he doesn't know who it was - but says his friends on facebook have suggested it might have been champion Cornish surfer Ben Skinner.Click here to see a gallery of Simon's photographs
