A man was almost swept out to sea after he got in to difficulty while trying to launch a small boat near Rock this morning.
The man, who was wearing a dry suit, was washed away as he tried to launch the boat, possibly a small catamaran, in to the River Camel off a trailer shortly after 9am.
The trailer was also swept away and lost, as the man was carried towards Gun Point on the Rock side of the river.
An inshore lifeboat from Rock RNLI was dispatched, along with Polzeath Search and Rescue team, and the man was later reported to have swam ashore.
The boat with one person on board was towed by the lifeboat to safety.
