Two brave 12-year-old girls are to shave their beautiful long hair off in aid of charity – and are appealing for public support.
Harriet Tyler and her friend Maggie Sykes, both students at Richard Lander in Truro, have committed to the daring challenge to shave all their hair off for charity AMREF - African Medical Resources and Education Foundation.
The girls say they have chosen the charity because it is close to their hearts, particularly Maggie, as she has lived in Africa and has seen first-hand the impact that a lack of basic facilities has on communities.
The big day takes place in just less than a week's time on Friday April 19 at 4.15pm in Perranporth hair salon Snippets.
The girls have made a Youtube video explaining what they are planning.
The pair have already raised £200 for the cause, but are appealing to the public to support them in any way they can.
Harriet's mum, Nikki, said: "The girls are being extremely brave in their endeavours, especially at their age.
"As you can see from the video, the girls have very long hair which will take years to grow back to its current length."
To sponsor the girls please call Hollie on 07803060316.
