World-renowned Cornish opera star Ben Luxon will be discussing his extraordinary 30-year singing career at St Ives Theatre tomorrow.
The retired baritone, who was born in Redruth in 1937 and now lives in Massachusetts, performed with several major international symphony orchestras in some of the world's leading opera houses. He recorded more than 100 albums and had a part specially composed for him by Benjamin Britten.
Appointed a CBE in 1986, hearing loss curtailed his career and he was forced to retire from professional singing at the age of 56. Since then, he has developed a career as a narrator, poetry reader and stage actor, while continuing to teach and direct opera.
Kidz R Us Theatre director Phil Barnett will be in conversation with the singer tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced £10 in advance or £12 on the door. They are available on 01736 797007.
