Police in Truro have confirmed that overall crime in Truro has reduced by nearly 10 per cent compared to figures from last year.
According to official police statistics, overall crime has dropped from 2,490 incidents from April 2011-2012 to 2,285 from April 2012-2013.
Inspector Mark Richards at Truro police station said domestic burglary dropped from 102 incidents down to 59, a "significant reduction" of 42.2 per cent.
Commercial burglary dropped 4.3 per cent from 138 incidents to 132. Criminal damage also declined by 20 per cent from 523 incidents to 418.
But violence with injury rose 1.1 per cent from 275 to 281 and vehicle crime has increased by 7.6 per cent.
Inspector Richards commented: "The rise in vehicle crime was centred around a group responsible for stealing boat engines. I understand the group has now been dealt with. It is good to see that overall crime has dropped."
