POLICE are awaiting the results of tests after a mystery liquid was sprayed into a woman's eyes by an attacker at her front door.
Officers in Bodmin were called to an address in St Mary's Road at around 4pm on Tuesday after reports that a woman had been assaulted.
As she answered her front door a man sprayed the liquid into her face.
"We are awaiting tests of the fluid in order to try and identify the liquid," a police spokesman said.
He said the liquid was not an acid as the victim's injuries were not severe; she was left with a possible abrasion to her left eye.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged in his mid-thirties, with short dark hair and was wearing a light-coloured, short-sleeved round neck t-shirt with dark coloured denim jeans.
Police say she did not know her attacker.
Bodmin CID are appealing for any witnesses that may have seen the suspect running along St Mary's Road or anyone who was in the area around that time.
