Three apprentices from Cornwall College Business are preparing for a trip to London for the final stages of a national skills competition.
Joe Dowling, 21, from Truro, Elliot Webb, 19, from Penryn and Emily Dunstan, 18 from Truro, have reached the semi-finals of the WorldSkills UK's accountancy competition.
WorldSkills UK celebrates the practical skills of apprentices and young people through a series of competitive skill challenges in more than 50 different industry and skill areas, from hairdressing to engineering and from floristry to plumbing.
The three apprentices are all Level 3 Accountancy apprentices at Cornwall College Business.
Elliot Webb studies one day a week at Cornwall College Camborne and spends the rest of his time in the accountancy department for Cornwall Council.
He said: "I am really happy that we have progressed to the next round in London.
"I think that what we have achieved so far is a huge credit to the college and demonstrates the sort of hard work that the college puts into the AAT training to get the best results for the students."
Rose Walker, programme manager for the Accountancy Apprenticeship course, said: "The whole experience can only be of benefit to each apprentice as they are tested on working together as a team as well as accuracy of their work.
"From the regional events just 18 teams will progress to the semi-final stage of the competition and we are very excited to be progressing in the competition."
If successful on May 11, the Cornwall College team will go on to compete in the national finals at the Skills Show at the NEC in Birmingham in front of around 100,000 visitors.
