Major roadworks caused massive delays for shoppers coming into Truro today.
Traffic tailbacks were thought to go on for miles for drivers coming in from the A30 or from St Austell.
One lane of Tregolls Road was closed as part of the Cornwall Council scheme to transform Trafalgar roundabout by the police station.
The closure will end before rush hour trafic resumes on Monday morning.
A spokesman for Cornwall Council said: "There will be a lane closure on the inbound side of Tregolls Road between 7am on Saturday 27 April and 7am on Monday 29 April.
"This is for works relating to the gas and water main diversion. We are aiming to complete the work as soon as possible to minimise disruption to traffic."
