Penryn may be getting extra public toilets if plans to build a cafe at the railway station go ahead.
Andrew Robertson of Kernick Road has submitted a pre-application to Cornwall Council for the proposal.
He said the cafe would go on a thin strip of land currently a flower bed and tarmac area.
"Besides hoping to create a successful business, the site will provide public toilets to the station commuters and community at large, as well as providing a focal point for the local community to use and enjoy."
First Great Western and Network Rail have already given their backing to the development.
The building would be a timber framed single storey structure measuring 10m by 5m.
