THE MEVAGISSEY to Fowey ferry is cancelled today due to weather conditions.
Ferry skipper John Wood said this is due to a force 4-5 south easterly wind.
"This makes crossing the bay in a smallish boat an uncomfortable experience, and disembarking in Mevagissey (whose harbour faces south east) potentially hazardous for passengers who are not very agile," he added.
"We take mostly return trippers and, during school time, it is next to impossible to arrange alternative transport back for passengers in the mid-afternoon so each morning I study the many forecasts available online to assess whether we can be confident that the boat will be able to run all day."
He added: "We may also have to cancel a perfectly good morning to avoid stranding passengers in the afternoon.
"Occasionally we get it wrong but we do always err on the side of caution."
