Plans for a new state-of-the-art veterinary hospital for Penryn have been submitted to Cornwall Council.
The scheme will enable Rosemullion Veterinary Practice to relocate from Melvill Road in Falmouth, where it has outgrown the site.
This proposal is for a practice three times bigger, with additional consulting rooms, operating theatre, dog kennels and more parking.
It will also mean the practice can expand, with plans to employ more staff.
If approved, it will be on land behind Asda, off Kernick Road with access via the same road that serves the supermarket.
The application has been made by landowner Walker Developments, which is also building large numbers of housing in the area.
It wants to develop a two storey building with the vets at ground floor and office space on the first floor.
This will be speculative space marketed once approval is given.
And it includes an outline application for a second two storey office building which could be used for the relocation of tenants of the Tremough Innovation Centre.
The existing site is currently being used as a secure compound for storing boat hull moulds and trailers.
Architects ACD Projects Ltd said in a design statement: "The new hospital will create an up-to-date facility to enable the vets to provide the best possible care for their patients and owners.
"Rosemullion currently has three branches in Cornwall and is looking to replace one of their current outdated setups with a larger hospital with better facilities."
There will be 46 parking spaces for the vets, for staff and visitors and 16 for the office spaces in building one with a further 21 spaces for the second building.to view the Rosemullion veterinary hospital planning application click here
