Over the last 12 months, Carnon Downs Surgery have been supporting CLIC Sargent, taking on challenges and organising events to hit a record target. From coffee mornings to a continental cycle ride, everyone in the team has been involved in raising a staggering £5,078.75 to help children and young people with cancer.
Dr Alison Flanagan and Assistant Practitioner Kathy James were instrumental in organising a team to cycle 350 miles from Paris to Cornwall last September in just 6 days. With many of the team, patients and member of the community showing support through sponsorship and donations. Other events have included Jubilee celebrations, Christmas coffee morning, staff socials and daffodil sales in the surgery.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading cancer charity for children and young people. Approximately 1,700 children aged up to 15 years and 2,300 young people aged 16 to 24 are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. Last year, CLIC Sargent's health and social care professionals gave in-depth support to more than 5,500 children and young people with cancer, and their families. It costs CLIC Sargent around £3,750 to support each child or young person through treatment; providing physical, social, emotional, psychological, educational and practical support for the whole family throughout diagnosis and treatment.
