Redruth-born TV star and comedian Rory McGrath has been arrested in Cornwall on suspicion of assault following an alleged drunken argument.
The Three Men in a Boat star, who is a regular visitor to his home county, was held at Camborne police station and questioned over the incident that took place in Pool at 10.15pm on Friday.
A spokesman for Curtis Brown literary agent, who represent Mr McGrath for TV and radio roles, said she was "unaware" of the incident.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a property in the Pool area, near Redruth, following a report that a man had assaulted a male and female couple, who it is understood, were attempting to assist this man who was heavily in drink.
"A man in his late 40s received a bloody nose and scratches to the face. A 57-year-old man from the Cambridge area was arrested for common assault and an actual bodily harm assault."
Educated at Redruth Grammar School, Mr McGrath went to Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and became a member of the Cambridge Footlights, finding fame on the Channel 4 sketch show Who Dares Wins.
Rory is also known for roles in Chelmsford 123 and as a regular panellist on They Think It's All Over.
