A new face on the Fowey high street has had tastebuds tingling thanks to their novel take on an old favourite. Lazy Jack's Kitchen launched mid-way through March and brought with it a new twist to that seaside staple, ice cream. Not content to serve customers the tried and tested traditional flavours, Michael Redmond, owner of Lazy Jack's, had a different vision for his new venture. He commissioned West Country based ice cream specialists, Moomaid of Zennor, to bring to life Lazy Jack's very own, unique, signature flavour…Bourbon and Cornflake! "The ice cream is made with Jim Beam bourbon," said Michael, "It's very boozy and has gone down very well, we've even had an enquiry from someone wanting to buy it wholesale." Michael sees the signature whiskey drenched flavour as purely the beginning for Lazy Jack's with other off the wall tastes and combinations incoming. He added: "We will be commissioning new and unusual flavours in the near future and will continue to change the flavours menu on a weekly basis. "We recently had our sea salt and caramel come back by popular demand after a few days off the menu and we're also working on a chocolate covered bacon snack, that does taste much better than it sounds." Along with the sweet treats, Lazy Jack's also offer a wide range of savoury favourites and Michael believes after a strong start the future for his new shop, and the Fowey town centre itself, is looking bright. "There are not many towns in Britain that still have a butchers a bakers a fishmongers and I think there is even a candlestick maker believe it or not!" he said, "I think the future is looking really bright for Fowey and its established business as well as some great new additions. "We've had a very busy few weeks and would like to thank everyone for their support and nice comments on what we have done at lazy Jack's Kitchen and hope to continue to improve over the next few months."
