The launch of a new business venture brought crowds of hungry people to the streets of Fowey on Bank Holiday Monday keen to get their teeth into a Posh Pasty. The new gourmet take on the Cornish classic is the brainchild of TV presenter, James Strawbridge and his wife Holly. The family business that aims to provide delicious gourmet pasties made from the best locally sourced ingredients was very well received during its official launch in Fowey. Lazy Jack's Kitchen, who will be the first official outlet for the pasties, had people queuing out on to the street waiting to get a taste of the new pasty on the block. Michael Redmond, owner of Lazy jack's, said: "We were so busy that we sold out very quickly. "The launch day went off brilliantly, even the weather held out, and we found it difficult to keep up with the demand. "The pasties a little more expensive than your average pasties, but then they are not your average pasties and we think they are definitely worth the extra!" During a busy few hours, James Strawbridge and Richard Kittow of Kittows of Fowey Butchers gave a pasty making demonstration, free pasties were presented to Fowey Gig Club to mark their impressive performance at the recent World Championships and the rowers then went head to head in a men versus women pasty crimping contest. The result being a fairly convincing victory for the ladies. James Strawbridge said via Twitter that pasty fever had gripped Fowey, adding: "Thank you to everyone who wished us well today, and to all who turned up in person to show their support."
