PLANS for new fire stations in Camborne, Pool, Redruth and Hayle went on display today. The proposal is to relocate the existing Camborne and Redruth community fire stations to two new sites in Tolvaddon and Hayle. A drop-in session took place at Illogan Parish Council Room this morning with a second event taking place on Thursday at Hayle Day Care Centre between 9.30am and 1pm. A further public engagement session takes place on Wednesday, June 12, from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Illogan Parish Council Room in Wheal Agar, Tolvaddon Energy Park. Today the main concerns raised by the public related to access to the Red River Valley, which the authority said will be maintained, understanding what community facilities would be available and the visual impact on existing views. Deputy chief fire officer Paul Walker for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The morning provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with people from the local community and discuss our plans for a new community fire station to serve Camborne, Pool and Redruth, as well as a new service headquarters facility on the Tolvaddon site. "I was pleased with the positive nature of the engagement and the wide scale support for our proposals. "We will continue to work with local residents to understand any areas of concern, however the majority of people we spoke to during Tuesday's event view this as an exciting opportunity that provides a modern community resource in a location where it can deliver an excellent fire, rescue and community safety service to local communities."
