A 19-YEAR-OLD from St Austell has been cautioned for punching a charitable police officer in the face. PC Phil Dingle was awarded an MBE last year his work raising money for charity and using football as a medium to engage young people in the Clay Country and keep them off the streets. But he was allegedly attacked while trying to break up a fight outside The Club nightclub in High Cross Street, St Austell, at about 2am on Tuesday, May 21. During the incident, he was punched by Timothy Hewitt from Upper Eastcliffe Road. Inspector Stuart Gibbons said it had luckily caused no visible injury. "I think Phil was in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up getting a clout to the face," he added.
