A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious head and chest injuries after becoming trapped underneath scrap metal at the back of a lorry this afternoon. Falmouth coastguard, firefighters and ambulance were called to Eastwood Road near Challenger Marine in Ponsharden, Penryn at 4.50pm to help release the man. A spokesman for Falmouth Coastguard said: "He was quite badly injured and sustained some serious head and chest injuries. "The fire brigade requested our assistance because the skills the coastguard team members have can be used in other environments than in cliff rescues and today we were able to give them some technical assistance in releasing the man." The man was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske in Truro by land ambulance.
